On this stretch of the Turkey River, you won’t find rocky scenery. As you put in, be aware that it is the beginning of a long riffle with spring fed water. It is colder than the rest of the river. Most likely, there will be anglers fishing for trout on the riverbanks. The springs keep the water cold enough to have trout through the summer months. This is an easy trip. When you see Elkader’s water tower, you are close to the take out, which is on the river left.
