Upper Gar Lake connects the south bay of East Okoboji Lake to Minnewashta Lake. It is the smallest of the Iowa Great Lakes chain. It is a shallow channel, a connection of two larger lakes. Because of how shallow it is, the speed limit is 5 mph.
