The Arikaree Breaks are located on the extreme northern edge of Cheyenne County, in the northwestern corner of the state of Kansas. The landscape shows great contrast to the flat plains in the surrounding areas, with its deep ravines and gullies. There are several public roads through the breaks, giving visitors some outstanding viewing sites of this rugged wonder. Visitors are asked to please respect the land owners by remaining on the public roads. Wildlife is abundant and signs of their habitation are easily seen. This route follows a driving tour that is guided by sing markers, pointing out the great views and interesting things along the way. These dirt roads are not recommended for travel on wet days.
