Big Hill Lake is a 1,240-acre lake located 8 miles west of the city of Parsons and is surrounded by over 360 acres of public lands for recreational use. Popular activities include fishing, picnicking, boating, camping, and swimming at a sandy beach. Settled in the beautiful Big Hill Creek Valley in the Cross Timbers area, a variety of native vegetation and wildlife is present. Many woodland birds and mammals, wild turkey, armadillos, deer, box turtles, and many more are commonly seen around the lake. A wonderful mix of oak-bluestem forest, grasslands and hedgerows, and wildflowers provide a very scenic shoreline and views.
