Bourbon County State Lake is a 103-acre lake with a maximum depth of 32 feet with 70 acres of public wildlife area surrounding it. The wildlife area offers great wildlife viewing with woodlands and shrubs along the hillsides that provide cover for a variety of mammals and birds. White-tailed deer, squirrels, muskrats, quail, blue herons, painted turtles and much more are commonly seen from the lake. Steep bluffs and limestone outcrops add to the scenery.
