Clinton Lake is surrounded by more than 60 miles of hiking trails that pass through scenic woodlands, prairies, and over ridges along the lakeshore. The main trunk of the trail system is on the north shore of the lake and is blazed in blue and white. This route stays on the blue-blazed trail. You will hike close to the lakeshore with great views over the lake throughout most of the hike. As you turn around and head back, a short loop cuts back into the woods where there is beautiful, dense foliage of the hickory, oak, and hackberry trees. Great views of the lake, rocky limestone shorelines, and serenity through the thick forest are highlights of this trip. Many birds and small mammals are often seen.
