Cowley County State Lake is an 84-acre lake with a maximum depth of 32 feet and is located 16 miles east of Arkansas City. The water quality is excellent and extremely clear with a wide variety of fish species including Channel Catfish, Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Redear Sunfish, Walleye, Crappie, and Flathead. Wildlife is commonly seen around the lake, especially quail, rabbits, squirrel, waterfowl, song birds, and much more. The scenery surrounding the lake is also very diverse and beautiful with tallgrass prairie, many trees, and a plethora of wildflowers seen along the shores.
