El Dorado Lake is a reservoir on the Walnut River and is adjacent to El Dorado and El Dorado State Park. The lake is big and has numerous coves around its shorelines with beautiful forested, grassy, or agricultural views. A large peninsula on the east shore contains El Dorado State Park. There are many recreational opportunities at the park and a large wildlife area surrounding the park makes great wildlife viewing from the water. Camping, fishing, hiking, and boating are among some of the popular recreational opportunities and common wildlife seen include a wide range of small mammals, white-tailed deer, songbirds, game birds, and waterfowl.
