The Lyon State Fishing Lake is a 135-acre lake located on the eastern edge of the Flint Hills region and is surrounded by over 400 acres of wildlife area. Fishing is good for Bluegill, Redear Sunfish, Channel Catfish, Largemouth Bass, and Crappie. The scenery consists mostly of tallgrass native prairie with small wooded sections interspersed around the shores. Wildlife is commonly seen from the water and includes, but is not limited to, White-tailed deer, fox squirrels, a variety of birds, waterfowl, and other small mammals.
