The Mill Creek Streamway Park Trail is an asphalt trail that follows Mill Creek over widely-varied terrain. There is a hilly 2-mile section through woodlands that is especially picturesque. Benches set off from the trail along the ridge overlook pastures in the valley below. You will also pass through meadows then later wetlands, a prime location for birdwatching. The loop on Nelson’s Island in the Kansas River is heavily wooded and rich in wildlife and the dense foliage provides shade and seclusion. You will also pass through the Shawnee Mission Park which is especially scenic. Several access points along the way make it easy to customize your trip to varying lengths.
