The Missouri River is born from a small spring in the Rocky Mountains in Montana and changes character several times before reaching Kansas. Through the Kansas portion the scenery consists mostly of forested rolling hills and bluffs with lots of wildlife that include beavers, otters, muskrats, foxes, deer, and coyotes. Although the technical rating of the river only rates a Class II, it can be very tricky due to the width of the channel, speed of the current, and other complications. This section flows through gorgeous agricultural land with long, sweeping views. Some wooded areas are found along the river banks and near the end of the trip, thick forest provides great scenery all around.
