The Neosho Wildlife Area encompasses 3,250 acres in the broad valley of the Neosho River and includes 1,748 acres of wetlands, which are divided by dikes into eight pool areas. The marshes and riparian woodlands provide habitat for diverse species of wildlife, particularly migrating waterfowl and shorebirds and sometimes small woodland mammals. Between November and March, bald eagles are commonly seen. The scenery is beautiful and very peaceful.
