This little creek pouts off the southern hills of the Wakarusa watershed, and then tumbles down the rocky ridges that border the Kansas River Valley. The upper five miles of the creek twist and turn their way through tight channels, over gravel bars, around brush-covered islands, and through hills of mature hardwood forest. As it approaches Clinton Lake, the water is still and flat and quite a gem to paddle and explore. Flatwater paddlers can begin from downstream while whitewater boaters will enjoy this route from the top.
