The trails at Elk City State Park rank among the best in Kansas. This trail is a condensed version of the Elk River Trail as it travels along a rocky, wooded ridge overlooking the lake. It provides many opportunities to climb through, across, and under incredible rock formations. The trail is marked by blue blazes and is moderately difficult due to a rock climb up to Memorial Overlook. The scenery is spectacular throughout and the views of the lake are breathtaking. There is a trailhead at both ends of this trail making it easy to hike one way or out-and-back.
