Washington County State Lake is located north of the City of Washington and there are public walk-in areas all around the shore for hunters and fishermen. The lake is 65-acres and is surrounded by 352 acres of public hunting land. The scenery is wooded and beautiful with many open grassy areas. Wildlife viewing is great and includes quail, pheasant, dove, squirrels, rabbits, whitetail deer, beaver muskrats, raccoons, coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions, migrating fowl, and numerous others. The lake is stocked with several species of fish and camping and picnicking are also available.
