Wilson Lake is a reservoir formed by the Wilson Dam on the Saline River in 1964. Bordering the lake are three beautiful parks, Wilson State Park on the southeast, Minooka Park Recreation Area to the south, and Lucas Park Recreation Area to the north. All of these offer great camping facilities and day-use recreation areas. The views and scenery are very pretty with sandy beaches surrounding the lake and wide open rolling prairie lands as far as you can see. Just west of Lucas Park, on the north shore, there are many gorgeous sandstone formations and sandy beaches. These sandstone rock formations are seen both inland and right on the shore, rising straight out of the water, high overhead.
