Wyandotte County Lake Park, only 13 miles from Kansas City, is a 1500-acre wooded park with a 330-acre lake. The shorelines and scenery are filled with thick and beautiful woods with some sections of prairie and wildflowers. Many hiking and biking trails and other recreational opportunities are available in the park surrounding the lake. Wildlife is abundant and includes a variety of birds during spring and fall migrations as well as bald eagles and rough-legged hawks in winter. Many small woodland animals are common as well.
