Rafting

This section of the Penobscot River is quite wide in many sections and offers large ranges of flat water that is occasionally broken up by several falls and drops. One noteworthy section towards the beginning is called, Nesowadnehunk Falls; and if water levels are high, it's recommended to paddle river right, and if low, river left. Be sure to study the course in more detail to be aware of all hazards. Shortly after the last falls there is a small trail that leads to a dirt road for the take-out . Water levels are dependent on summer releases, so check levels before going. There are also rafting companies that provide guided tours such as Penobscot Adventures.
