West Grand Lake is part of a large cluster of water bodies in eastern Maine. An area of the lake called, Farm Cove has been known to offer a public boat launch and is where the launch site is marked in this route. The lake itself is very large and has an open center with a few islands. The banks are lined with trees with little signs of development. Avoid paddling these waters during windy weather since the openness of the lake can harbor rough waters. It's also recommended to stay close to the shoreline while paddling. It is possible to access Pocumcus Lake from West Grand by paddling west through a large channel that connects the two.
