Paddling the shores of Annapolis is not a wilderness experience, but instead provides a unique beauty all its own. Annapolis has a subtle grace devoid of dramatic skyscrapers or huge monuments. The city is steeped in history, with 18th-century brick and clapboard houses lining the streets and creeks creating a waterscape that is one of the most beautiful in the world. Visible on this journey is the white wooden cupola of the State House, Truxton Park, beautiful homes, mostly built in the late 1700s and early 1800s, a drawbridge connecting Eastport and Annapolis, forested shorelines on Carr Creek, and many businesses, most of which have a distinct maritime purpose. A great stop is the City Dock of Annapolis at the head of Ego Alley which is available for docking. Within walking distance you will find the Market House, which has a variety of booths selling sandwiches, baked goods, and seafood.
