This hike in Benjamin Banneker Park follows an old rail bed that was used for a trolley that once ran from Baltimore City to Ellicott City. You will begin on a narrow strip of woodland surrounded by houses and soon enter a beautiful valley that makes the area seem more remote than it is. Following the path for old Trolley #9, you will hike through a thick forested area and reach historic Ellicott’s Mills. There are some historic buildings for viewing as well as quick views and access to the Patapsco as it runs by.
