Columbia has developed an extensive network of bicycle trails, most of which are short paths connecting communities with neighborhood centers and schools, but there is a main system of paths cutting diagonally across this town that makes for enjoyable family riding. Because there are so many paths, it is easy to get lost and there are not many trail signs. This trail hits the four major lakes in Columbia, which are Centennial Lake, Wilde Lake, Lake Kittamaqundi, and Lake Elkhorn. There are numerous convenience stores, fast food restaurants, and local shops. There is some riding on roads but this is minimal and traffic is low and there are a few short and steep hills as well.
