Deep Creek Lake is the biggest freshwater lake in Maryland and was created in the 1920s as part of a hydroelectric project. This tour begins in Deep Creek Lake State Park, where you can have a swim before or after the ride. You will ride along the lake shore for a bit, then alongside Sang Run and the Youghiogheny River and climb a hill over a mountain road where you will find Cranesville Sub-Arctic Swamp, a nature sanctuary. On this ride you will also stop at two spectacular waterfalls, Swallow Falls and Muddy Creek Falls, before returning to the state park. This route is mainly paved with light-traffic roads, is very hilly, and includes a 1-mile stretch on a busy road and one dirt road.
