Eastern Neck Island is a National Wildlife Refuge on a spit of land disconnected from the mainland by just a few yards, which makes it easy to access. During the winter Eastern Neck is considered a major feeding and resting area for migratory waterfowl and provides home to many other forms of wildlife. There are many coves in the shoreline that are great for exploring the protected marsh environment housed within. One perk of this trip is that you can experience the feel of paddling on the open Chesapeake while being somewhat protected from boat traffic.
