The Fairmount Wildlife Management Area consists of 4,000 acres of marshlands and a small portion of forested wetlands that represent the typical river habitat on the Chesapeake Bay. Two impoundments have been created and these, as well as the lush wetland plants and dense population of invertebrates, make Fairmount attractive to many species of waterfowl. This hike follows dirt roads, with water-filled ditches on both sides, around the two impoundments and allow you to become intimate with the marsh habitat and the wildlife that is found here.
