Rocks State Park is located in Deer Creek Valley only a one-hour drive from Baltimore. The park has three noncontiguous sections in the valley. The Falling Branch area is home to Kilgore Falls, the second highest waterfall in Maryland and arguably the most picturesque as well. The algae-covered rock face of the 17-foot cliff-edge drop is surrounded by large boulders and rock slabs that make a pleasing frame for the fall. The waterfall was featured in the movie Tuck Everlasting. This hike drops down by the river and follows until you reach Kilgore Falls. You will then hike out of the river valley and venture through the surrounding forest on the return.
