Gillis Falls Park is a beautiful forested park located just northeast of Mount Airy in Carroll County. The park contains a network of crisscrossing trails, many of which are not marked or included in the park trail map but are well worth exploring. This loop trail combines segments of different trails that host a variety of beautiful forest plants and wildflowers, especially the blooming mountain laurels in June. There are at least 2-3 river crossings which require fording in ankle to knee deep water, depending on rainfall.
