This hike is located in Patapsco Valley State Park, one of Maryland’s largest and most heavily used parks. Following the Grist Mill Trail on the Baltimore County side and River Road on the Howard County side of the river and joined by the Swinging Bridge, this makes a beautiful hike. You will hike through thick, lush forests above the river atop steep banks, allowing for gorgeous views of the river and great scenery among the trees. There are several prominent landmarks and dramatic views along this hike and a beautiful river crossing over the Swinging Bridge. River Road is closed to traffic and is the route to follow on the return.
