Located in Rock Creek Regional Park, this area is in a very natural state and features an outdoor education facility and the Meadowside Nature Center. On the hike you will pass through a farmstead and a small aviary for permanently injured raptors. You will circle Lake Frank and venture into the surrounding forest with only a few short ups and downs. Tulip poplar, sycamore, birch, maple and oak are just some of the trees you will be walking under, while azalea, mountain laurel, and dogwood grow at about eye level. Wildlife is abundant as well and it’s not uncommon to spot squirrels, rabbits, deer, snakes, frogs, salamanders, raccoons, weasels, foxes, or beavers.
