This hike is located in Gunpowder Falls State Park, one of Maryland’s largest and most dispersed, for it consists of about 17,000 acres of river valley and adjacent uplands spread all over northern and eastern Baltimore County, from tide water to the Pennsylvania border. This route explores a section of the Big Gunpowder River as well as climbing some forest hill for views and to visit Lost Lake. The trail is blazed in blue and easy to follow and is usually muddy. You will also find the remains of an old sawmill from 1833.
