Launch from a public dock across the bay from Ocean City. Head south towards the Ocean City inlet and enjoy the views of waterfront homes, several islands, and the stunning Ocean City. This Atlantic resort town is a very popular tourist destination as it is built on a barrier beach on the Atlantic Ocean. As such, boat traffic is very heavy, especially on summer weekends. The shorelines are heavily developed, making it difficult to appreciate the salt marsh and pine forest ecosystem, but there are a few places to explore and find refuge from the boat traffic and peace and quiet of the beautiful nature. Despite the development, there are a few small, uninhabited islands where many shorebirds and other critters can be found. Be prepared for some choppy water due to wind and boat wakes.
