This trail is located in the Antietam National Battlefield Park, the site of the Battle of Antietam, the bloodiest day of the Civil War. This is a pleasant walk along the surprisingly wild Antietam Creek. Wild turkey, beaver, barred owls, and other wildlife inhabit the stream valley. On the return you will hike to the top of a short hill and through an open field. The creek is stocked with trout in the spring; licenses are available at a store near the park.
