At the top end of Chesapeake Bay, the Northeast and Elk Rivers come together in a V-shaped peninsula that is called Elk Neck and whose end is called Turkey Point. This tour begins at the top of the neck and leads through wooded parkland to the lighthouse at Turkey Point, on a hundred-foot clay bluff over Chesapeake Bay. This tour is recommended especially in the fall to avoid summer weekend traffic but also to show the bright display of fall colors. You can expect to have wonderful scenery of the rolling landscape, forest, and farm fields and great views of the Elk River, Northeast River, and Chesapeake Bay. There is a short section of dirt and gravel road leading up to the lighthouse.
