Located in the heart of the Hiawatha National Forest, Colwell Lake offers excellent opportunity for outdoor recreation including fishing, boating, hiking, and camping. The forest service campground is situated along the southeastern shoreline and provides 35 single campsites that can accommodate tents and RV equipment up to 60 feet max length. The sites all include picnic tables, fire pits, lantern posts, and tent pads. There are a handful of sites that also include electric hookups for RVs. The campground amenities include toilets, water spigots, and a boat ramp. There is one group site available as well. Reservations are available for some sites and the remainder are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The cost per single site is $16-$18 per night and the group site is $50 per night.
