Jefferson Barracks Park has some of the largest oak trees found anywhere in the St. Louis County Park system. The park features many sinkholes. This is a good location to see deer out in the field during the early morning or the evening hours. Keep an eye out for coyote, fox, wild turkeys and other animals that may be crossing the field. Red-tailed hawks can also be seen here. If you leave the park and head North, this trail connects with the Mississippi River Trail. This is a paved trail that goes along the Mississippi River.
