This trail begins at the Kiamichi Trailhead. If you don't come with a four-wheel drive vehicle you may want to park on the south bank of the river and cross on foot due to water in the riverbed. About 100 yard north of the river is a latched metal gate followed by a dirt road. After following this road for about a half mile you will reach the trailhead. Blue blazes mark the trail which crosses some typically dry creeks during the first few miles. While ascending Rich Mountain keep an eye out for blue blazes as the trail may be hard to see due to the cover of leaves.
