This section of the Appalachian Trail nearly parallels the Blue Ridge Parkway between Humpback Rocks and Rockfish Gap (Afton Mountain). Beginning from the Humpback Rocks parking area, follow the trail spur out to the Appalachian Trail and take a hard left. Hikers will appreciate the stunning views of Albemarle County in the distance as they climb and descend through the rugged hillsides of the Blue Ridge. When the trail approaches the Parkway once again, cross the bridge over VA 250 and arrive at the Rockfish Gap parking area.
