Beginning from the parking area on VA 759, this lesser-known ridge trail runs through a beautifully forgotten section of Shenandoah. Snaking up the spine of Powell Mountain, hikers can get staggering views of Grindstone Mountain and the Shenandoah Valley in the distance. On a clear day adventurers can catch glimpses of the glorious Big Creek Falls through the trees; unfortunately, there is no trail to this uniquely gorgeous and quite large waterfall, but it can be enjoyed from afar on Powell Mountain. Eventually the trail will arrive at the Hazeltop Ridge Overlook on Skyline Drive offering more sumptuous views of the mighty Shenandoah.
