This lesser-known approach to Dark Hollow Falls follows an old gravel forest road up the side of Spitler Knoll, making many switchbacks and ascending rapidly up to Skyline Drive. This path also makes a fantastic and relatively easy mountain biking route; however, those who wish to visit waterfall may wish to reconsider bringing bikes down the Rose River Trail, as mountain biking is prohibited on all trails in Shenandoah. After crossing Skyline Drive, the path veers right and snakes its way down to the popular Dark Hollow Falls.
