This creek-hike follows the Rose River Fire Road along the edges of the water amid cedar and rhododendron forests, revealing secluded landscapes of moss and rock. Veer left when the trail comes to Hogcamp Branch and follow the path up Stony Mountain Trail. Though most views are obscured by trees, there are some spectacular sights available after a brief detour to the summit of Stony Mountain. After descending for a time, take another left on Upper Dark Hollow Trail. This path follows the line of a smaller creek until meeting back up with the Rose River Fire Road back down the gulch.
