This route is a wonderful alternative to paddling around the lakeshore when the winds are gusting and large waves and weather prohibit a peaceful tour. You will begin at the slough on Bark Bay Road. Bark Bay Slough contains gorgeous plants and stunning views which are long, stretching views across the wetland as well as out over Lake Superior. You can then paddle the Bark River where winding river channels allow an intimate tour of this area rich in seasonal flora and fauna. The mouth of the river opens to Lake Superior at a sandy beach where you can continue your tour out onto the bay.
