Born Horn Canyon offers dramatic scenery as visitors can explore the lake's open waters and steep-walled canyons. The Big Horn Canyon National Recreation Area is very large and located both in Montana and Wyoming with boat launches available in both states. Parts of the lake are located within boundaries of wildlife management areas providing lots of opportunity for wildlife viewing. Paddlers can choose to travel as few or as many miles as they choose while on the lake. Depending on the section of the lake being covered there may not be good areas for pulling out the boat so be prepared for the distance being covered. Winds on the lake can cause rough waters so be aware and pay attention to current weather conditions.
