This paddling trip starts at Wedding of the Waters which is the point where the Wind River ends and the Bighorn River begin. The river is mostly a calm and scenic run but there may be an occasional obstacle to navigate. The Wind River just upstream from the put-in site is located on indian reservation and cannot be paddled except with approved outfitters. The river does continue downstream from Thermopolis after the take-out for many more miles with multiple access points along the way for paddlers wanting to cover more distance.
