Located just below Grand Teton, Disappointment Peak offers a wide variety of climbing opportunities. The south, west, and north sides of the peak are cliffs, with only the eastern side being a gradual climb to the summit. The view from the top is amazing, showing all of the peaks and pinnacles in the heart of the Tetons. This route is the Northwest Crack and after making your way from the valley, the peak climb begins on the northwest face where there are three main shelves that angle left and up to the east ridge. This route does follow the crack to the top shelf and the crack narrows to about 10 inches on the last pitch. Wedged chockstones must be used for holds. Scramble up the shelf to the east ridge and then to the summit via the plateau.
