Mountaineering

Beginning at Leigh Lake, Dragon Peak is an isolated peak that looks like a humpbacked monster, thus giving it the name. Following around the east side of Leigh Lake and then the west side of Moran Bay on Jackson Lake, this is a gorgeous hike through the wilderness. The route then cuts through a canyon and then climbs toward the beautiful mountain lake, Cirque Lake. From Cirque Lake, the climb up Dragon Peak begins as you follow the southwest ridge entirety to the summit. The climb can be slightly crumbly and use caution along the crest as not all of the rock splinters may be solid. Sections can be bypassed on steep ledges on the left.
