Hawk Springs State Park and reservoir is a good destination for birdwatchers due to the colony of blue herons and diverse bird species that inhabit the area. The south end of the lake is only accessible by boat and provides the most opportunity for birdwatching. Other activities at park also include fishing, camping, and picnicing.
