The hike to Little Sandy Lake is a great introduction to the rugged Wind River Range, without having to backpack multiple days into the inside. You will see the ruins of the huge forest fire of 1988. Very early on this route you will find yourself at the junction for the Sweetwater Gap Trail, where you will turn left and head for the marshlands where the trail is faint at times but is well defined after that.
