Twisting through the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, the Medicine Bow Trail is a gravel trail that provides a window into the Old West. This is a remote trail that has many wildlife viewing opportunities, including moose. The rail-trail was originally built to accommodate a gold rush in the 1920s and was later used by the Union Pacific Railroad. Interpretive signs along the trail share the history of the area. The gravel surface is not ideal for road tires, but mountain bikes and cylo-cross bikes are recommended.
