Mountaineering

This route follows the North Ridge of the Middle Teton to the summit and is a more strenuous climb than the easier Southwest Coulier route. The climb begins on a trail through Garnet Canyon and reaches the Platforms Camp, where the easy trail hiking ends and the scrambling and climber's trail begins. After climbing over boulders and rocky trails, the route opens up to the Meadows and then follows switchbacks to the Caves Camp. After Caves Camp is the cliff band, which creates a steep snow slope to cross in early season, but in late season it offers a class 3-4 scramble. The cliff band leads to the Lower Saddle, a great camping location with fresh running water. From here the North Ridge of the Middle Teton begins where the route scrambles through the notch between Pinocchio Pinnacle and Bonney's Pinnacle and traverse to the next notch behind Bonney's Pinnacle. Continuing up the west side ledges leads to an eroded black dike couloir that then takes you to crux notch. From the crux, take a line up and over the ridge crest to some slabs on the west side that lead to the summit.
