This part of the North Platte River is known as Fremont Canyon. The beginning of the canyon is wide and offers calm waters but as the canyon continues on it turns into a slot canyon with more exciting rapids. There are sections of the river that may require advanced skill depending on water levels and flow so be sure to check current conditions before starting the trip. There may also be areas that require portaging of boats depending on the current water flow. There are multiple road access points along the run so it is possible to travel only certain portions of the river.
